We live in a fucked up world.
We live in a world where girl is the worst insult
And women aren't allowed to like themselves.
We punish those who press razors to their skin
But we ostracize women who don't.
We raise our daughters to please pedophiles,
Teaching them that beauty is outward,
Age-defying.
Grown men looking for children in women,
Smooth and hairless,
Prepubescent.
Women mutilate their bodies for these perverse social norms
And don't question it,
Never question it.
You're not allowed to question
Or you'll never be accepted,
Never get the prize,
Never get to be used and abused.
A woman is useless if she doesn't have sex,
She is a failure and an embarrassment.
That is, of course, not the case
If she enjoys it
Or if she is fat
Or if she is comfortable in her own skin.
Sluts are unacceptable
And pleasure is for men.
The world has no place for women with self-esteem.
Society has no room for women like me.
So don't go spouting your MLK nonsense at me,
Don't tell me that we've won.
We live in a world full of delusions,
People pacified by a woman running for office
But this country can't even handle a female VP.
PMS doesn't launch missiles
And I'll punch you in the mouth if you offer me chocolate.
This is sick.
Why have we not yet moved beyond this mindset?
We live in a society that claims to be evolved,
Educated and non-judging,
Yes a woman is still less than a man,
Paid less, respected less,
Half of the world's population nameless sex objects.
I thought that we had moved past this.
I thought that the world was fixed.
Obviously not.
